How does each of the two candidates for President, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, measure up in terms of their likely defense of the Bill of Rights?

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Religious freedom:

On May 4, 2017, President Trump signed the “Presidential Executive Order Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty which was a major step toward repealing the Johnson Amendment which encroached on the right of religious institutions to engage in a basic function of their mission which is to preach moral positions based upon respective scriptures.

President Trump opposed a Supreme Court decision that upheld the State of Nevada shutting down religious institutions, but not casinos, during the pandemic. Trump stopped the Obamacare provision that forced Catholic institutions to pay for abortions and related healthcare.

Freedom of Speech and press

Biden spoke out in favor of the biggest incident of the suppression of free speech in American history, the censorship by Big Tech of the Washington Post story about the Hunter Biden laptop. Biden represents the cancel culture which is an informal tyranny that would purge from public discourse any point of view that does not properly genuflect to the left.

Amendment II

A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

President Trump supports the right to keep and bear arms, Biden generally seeks levels of regulation that would eventually abrogate those constitutional rights. While President Trump supports the principle of a well regulated militia, generally, Biden and his media stooges support the unregulated militias, which are their effective shock troops, that are now presently looting predominantly Black businesses, burning down predominantly Black neighborhoods and murdering black people, including black children, in the targeted neighborhood.

Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

George Soros financed District Attorneys, and Kamala Harris as California Attorney General, advocate an end to the bail system altogether and the freeing of violent criminals.

Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

President Trump respects States rights as demonstrated by his policy regarding the pandemic as he recognized the right of each state to set their own policies while offering federal assistance. Biden would institute a national lockdown and a national mask mandate. To do this would create a situation of martial law and military control, an idea that many advocates on the left were clamoring for.
